Read below on how to make traditional Indian Chai
Hi friends! In todays era, you will see a common drink now at your local coffee shops or even Starbucks. Its "chai". But really, traditional chai also known as "masala chai" originated in India back in the early 1900s. Chai is great to drink in the morning for natural caffeine or it is typically used after a heavy meal to help with digestion. So lets teach you how to make it at home!
we recommend getting these ingredients at your local Indian grocery store
Cardamom Seeds
Ginger
Cinnamon Sticks
Fennel Seeds
Ground tea of your choice - we use a tea brand called " Wagh Bakri"
Milk of your choice
Strainer
If you're only making 1 cup of chai I would boil two cups of water
Crush about 4 cardamom seeds into the boiling water
Then add 1 cinnamon stick
Go ahead and grate some ginger (about 1 tsp worth) and place it into the boiling water
Throw in a tablespoon of fennel seeds in the water
Add a tablespoon and a half of the tea
Stir it well
Add half a cup of milk of your choice
You will notice it changes the color to a nice light brown color
Grab a cup, and pour the tea into a strainer, so that all the seeds are eliminated from the chai
You can add sugar to taste
Enjoy :)
